autumn colours

here are some autumn pictures taken last week at wienerberg near where i live. ah, it was still warm and sunny and lovely! if you want more ...

* * * * *

this song has been haunting me for days now - your ghost by kristin hersh with michael stipe (of REM).

if I walk down this hallway, tonight,
it's too quiet,
so I pad through the dark
and call you on the phone
push your old numbers
and let your house ring
till I wake your ghost.
let him walk down your hallway
it's not this quiet
slide down your receiver
sprint across the wire
follow my number
slide into my hand.

song of the day: your ghost by kristin hersh with michael stipe.

Michi,
maybe you don’t remember me – we met at the vienna lit festival last year and had a chat at the bar (and a laugh with stephie); you wrote down your weblog for me and I’ve been silently dropping by every once in a while, enjoying your poetry and discovering new music from your songs of the day. Anyway, there is not really a point in this comment – I just wanted to say hi, and that I wish you all the best. Vienna can be cold sometimes, but it is also one of those places where it always gets summer again.

Some may say global warming isn't real; however, the record high temperatures in the midwestern United States is making our leaves dry up before they change color.

Hi Michi,

I love your photograpghs of fall, here in Texas, fall is almost nonexistent, we go from green to brown. Saturday it was 90 degrees, yesterday and today in the upper 40's. The plants are always confused. I love your red leaf that looks like it has been eaten.

That song has haunted me for years. For whatever reason, I associate it with River Phoenix now...maybe because it came out right after he died and that he and Michael Stipe were such good friends. It's such a haunting and beautiful song. Poetry.

I am doing fine - I am in Boston for the year. Autumn in MA is beautiful too... though today, it feels rather spring-like (crazy weather!).

Anyway - need to get back to work (i.e, finally start working)!

Grüße über den Atlantik,

Ch.

Yes, "Your Ghost," a complete masterpiece.

I also love "Beestung" on that CD.

oh i loooove that song! and i haven't listened to it in a long time -- 'time to fish out my old cassette tapes. thanks for reminding me. 'like the photos, michi g. what is it about photography that seems to really attract poets? (including me) of all the other arts, it seems poets most gravitate to music and photography. music makes such obvious sense. but what is it, i wonder, about photography? whatever it is, i cannot WAIT to get my new (used) camera!
